As I wander’d the forest,
the green leaves among,
I heard a wild flower singing a song.
“I slept in the earth
in the silent night.
I murmur’d my fears
and I felt delight”.
“In the morning I went,
as rosy as morn,
to seek for new joy:
but I met with scorn”.

Nel percorrere la foresta, in mezzo a verdi foglie,
un fiore selvatico udii,
cantare una canzone.
“Io dormivo per terra
nella notte silenziosa.
Mormorai le mie paure
e ne sentii piacere”.
“Me ne andai al mattino,
come rosa nell’aurora,
in cerca di altra gioia:
